Journals

The BES Journals contain outstanding quality, fully peer reviewed research published by ecologists for ecologists. A personal subscription - just £30 per journal for BES members - gives you instant access to the world's leading ecological research. Both paper and electronic formats provide access when, where and in what form you want.

The Journals are published six times a year with a total 1200-1400 printed pages per journal per year. Manuscripts are published online in advance of assignment to an issue (and may be available as little as four to five weeks after final acceptance) and appear in print, on average, between 6 and 9 months after submission. The Journals are all well within the top quarter of the Science Citation Index's Ecology category, with 2007 Impact Factors ranging from 3.157 to 4.422 (the highest ranked, Journal of  Ecology, was 12th of 116).

All Journals publish standard research articles, essay reviews and forum articles (for details see individual Journal pages). Each Journal has a team of Editors, supported by an international panel of Associate Editors and by a professional administrator who manages the peer review process via our web-based system for submission and review at Manuscript Central.
