Policy Advisory Groups

The BES is increasingly influential in providing scientific advice to parliamentarians and civil servants, particularly in the society’s priority areas of ecosystem services, climate change, the marine environment and research funding.

In order to inform key policy priorities, the Public and Policy Committee (PPC) has established Policy Advisory Groups on Climate Change, the Marine Environment and on Ecosystem Services. These groups offer BES members the opportunity to work closely with the Science Policy Team to develop BES policy and to support the transfer of knowledge between the policy and scientific communities. Activities will include, producing policy briefings, consultation responses, providing evidence to parliamentarians and meeting with science advisors and policy makers.
