How to become a Local Organiser for the Annual Meeting

Organising a BES Annual Meeting is certainly a challenge but it is great experience too. The Local Organiser is responsible for all the 'on-site' activities. Planning 1,000 cups of coffee in 20 minutes and organising student help are just a couple of the many arrangements to be put in place. The BES Secretariat does offer major assistance. The Executive Secretary has a wealth of previous experience, and the BES Office deals with all the delegate bookings and abstract acceptance. The local Conference Office helps out too. A venue for the Annual Meeting needs at least eight lecture theatres seating 100 or more in close proximity to one another, a theatre for the plenary sessions to seat at least 750, a large exhibition area for a trade exhibition and 120 posters, and plenty of student halls for delegate accommodation.

If you are interested and based at a UK University that has all the necessary facilities please contact the Meetings Committee Chair for a chat.
