We have chosen the Martlets Hospice as our supported charity.
The Martlets Hospice offers expert and compassionate care, and their aim is to enhance the quality of life and ease the distress of patients suffering from cancer and other serious conditions, and for whom curative treatment is no longer appropriate.
The Hospice operates on a full-time basis throughout the year, offering medical care, in-patient care, day hospice care, home care, patient and family support, and bereavement support. The Hospice is also committed to education, and is constantly improving the quality of its services to patients and their relatives through an on-going programme of staff and volunteering training.
Visit the Martlets Hospice website for further information.
The Sigmer charity initiative
Our support for charities commenced at Christmas 2006, when instead of purchasing Christmas gifts for our clients, we made a donation to a national charity. Support continued throughout 2007, with staff taking part in various fund raising initiatives. Read a summary of our 2007 fund raising initiatives.
For 2008, we wanted to support a charity where we could build upon our financial fund raising activities, and work with an organisation where our staff could also volunteer their time and skills. With this in mind, we explored the charities in the Brighton area, looking for organisations where we felt Sigmer could really make a difference. Four local charities were selected, and these were presented to Sigmer employees, who were invited to vote for the one they would most like Sigmer to support.

Niall McCrae, Managing Director, Sigmer Technologies:
"This is the second year that Sigmer has formally supported a charity, and we are delighted to be working with the Martlets Hospice. We wanted to become more involved with the local community, and for our staff to be fully involved in the selection process. We feel the Martlets do outstanding work helping terminally ill patients and their families, and we are proud to be supporting them."
