ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & AWARDS CEREMONY

The Awards Ceremony and AGM will be held together at 11:30 – 13:00 on Wednesday 6 September in the Lecture Theatre A of the Department of Zoology.  Members attending the event are invited to a drinks reception immediately afterwards.  The Awards Ceremony will comprise the award of Honorary Membership, the BES Award, the Marsh Award for Ecology, the Marsh Ecology Book Prize, the Founders' Prize and the best Young Author Prizes for the Society’s Journals.  This year we are delighted that Professor Phil Ineson will give a short talk at the end of the meeting entitled ‘Gases, Soils and Leaves’.

The agenda for the 26th Annual General Meeting of the British Ecological Society is as follows;


Review of the past year

1.       Acceptance of the minutes of the 25th AGM held in the Auditorium of the University of Hertfordshire on the 6th September 2005, which appeared in the December 2005 Bulletin Vol. 36:4 pg 64.

 

2.       Update report on the spending and investment plans announced at the 25th AGM.

·        Reserves policy – minimum level as a contingency against unforeseen events.

·        Supporting ecology in developing countries: Building Capacity in Ecology Fund.

·        Establishment of the Ecological Opportunities Fund.

 

3.       Change to the Articles.

·        The articles have been reviewed and amended pending approval (Members and Charity Commission).

·        The revisions are available as a PDF.  The current articles are also available.

 

4.       The Accounts of the Society for the year ended 31 December 2005 as published in the December 2005 Bulletin Vol. 36:4 pg 64 and summarized in the Annual Report.

 

5.       The reports of the Treasurer and the Auditors.

 

6.       The reports of the Council Secretary and the Hon. Chairpersons of the Committees.

 

7.       The reports of the Editors.
